Chemical incidents
First aid for all chemical incidents is to rinse immediately with water, which should last at least 20 minutes.
Eye injuries
- If a chemical has come into contact with the eye, rinse the eye with running water or use an eye rinse solution for 15-30 minutes.
- If the eye injury occurred from impact, the patient should lie down and the eyes should be protected.
- Report the emergency.
Gas-related incident
- Evacuate immediately and seek fresh air.
- Alert the operative personnel.
Mild incidents
- After first aid, direct the injured employee to his or her own health care centre.
