Gas hazards

The industrial area uses and manufactures various gases classified as dangerous chemical materials. Familiarise yourself with the safety data sheets for at least the following materials:

• Ammonia – irritant
• Nitrogen – asphyxiant
• Hydrogen – ignites easily (explodes)
• Carbon monoxide – rapid loss of consciousness

In cases of gas leak, the general emergency signal is given, unless it is a localised problem.

Take the following action:

• Evacuate the danger zone immediately cross-wind or to a protected area.
• Contact operative personnel / the control room.
• Report immediately to the person who ordered the work so that she or he knows that you are safe.
